Our Service - As a business directory we supply advertising solutions to any UK company that supplies a product or service. Only genuine UK businesses may use our services. Clients are permitted to use this site for the sole purpose of advertising THEIR business.

Listing content rules - This is not an age restricted website and we therefore DO NOT allow any of the following: Sexually explicit content, Lottery sites, racial hate content, religious preaching, online dating, online auctions and firearms businesses. All listings must conform to the laws in England & Wales.

Affiliate businesses - We do not accept affiliate businesses of any kind to be listed on our database. We define an affiliate business as one that sells goods on the behalf of a third party. This is also often referred to as being an agent. Businesses that seek affiliates will be refused.

Featured Advertising - This package allows our clients to make full use of our services. We will supply our members who hold a featured account with full access details that will enable our members to have full control over their account.

Basic listings - This is a basic advertising package that we supply free of charge. As such we restrict our clients using this level of subscription to only add their contact details and a description of their business. Free members also agree to receive our newsletter that is created and dispatched four times per year. We do not share your details with any other party. Requesting to be removed from this mailing list will also result in the closure of any free advertising account held by the member. Only one free account per person is permitted. Basic listings will also display a sponsored link.

HTML usage policy -
Basic & free listings - Html script is not permitted.
Featured listings - Our featured members may now use html script within their advert profile. This is confined to the description field of any business listings only and may include images and hyperlinks. Html script must not be used to alter the performance of our primary site features or colours.

NEW - Banner Advertising - All banners must be 468x60 in size. We will not advertise banners that relate to any racial, sexual, offensive, gambling or dating websites. Accounts must be paid for in advance and may be subject to an intital review before acceptance. A banner alteration fee of £1.50 applies should any advertiser wish for their banner to be changed before their acocunt expires. All advertisers agree to the terms and conditions set out on this page.

NEW - Search Engine Submission - Our submissions service is available to any persons who owns a website. Any website to be submitted MUST ensure that their site is active and has all keywords and meta tags in place. Although we submit any given website to the search engines we can not promise that it will be indexed by them, engines have their own policies in place.

Other Rules - We do not permit the resale of any subscription. Please contact us to cancel your account should your business close. You are not permitted to use this site for collecting email addresses with the intent of sending spam. You are not permitted to copy this website or any of its content without prior consent. All directory listings must contain a valid address and telephone number. No more than one business name is permitted within one listing.

Data Protection Act 1998 - We will never share your details with any other person or company. Unless we are instructed to do so by a law enforcement officer, for any criminal investigation that may be connected to any client in question. We do not keep any physical records of sensitive information such as payment details. We do store information about our clients and these include Name, address, telephone number and email address only. All personal details are destroyed by secure methods once membership expires. Clients may request access to the personal data that we hold at any time and upon proof of identity being produced, This is subject to a £5 administration fee. We will only ever discuss any account with the account holder or any other persons nominated by the account holder themselves. We will always ask clients to confirm their name, address and 1 other security question when answering any telephone call relating to their account. Members details are also held electronically within our site back up system. These details cannot be removed from this system until any particular back up is deleted or updated with our current site content.

Marketing emails - There is an option in each account, which allows our featured level members to control this option. We will not send any emails of a marketing nature to any client that does not wish to receive it.

Site admin - Payment is due every twelve months. Your account will be deleted automatically after this time if you have not made a new yearly payment. We, thelocalbusiness, reserve all management & legal rights and our decisions are final.

Payment of services - All payments should be made in advance of any service commencing. Accounts will be activated when fund have cleared. Any 'bounced' returned cheques will incur an administration charge of £18.00. This amount will be payable immediately and will be passed to our collections team should it remain unpaid for a period of 30 days or more.

Online payments - Theft prevention - Payment made via Paypal or google checkout that are reversed AFTER our product or service has been supplied and without our prior agreement will ALWAYS be consided as a deliberate act of theft. All acts of theft will be reported to the police and we will seek prosecution to the fullest extent of UK law. We will also seek the cost of damages and expenses. We reserve all of our legal rights. This includes all sales completed via our office, website or ebay.

Payment of VAT - We are not VAT registered at present. This is due to the size and turnover of our business. No VAT will be charged to any account at present. This may change in the future and in any such case only new or renewed accounts will be subject to VAT. Fair notice will be given at the time.

Legal Agreement - The agreement shall be governed by the laws of England and Wales and all disputes are to be dealt with and submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. The Local Business reserves all rights.

Copyright - We, THE LOCAL BUSINESS, hold all copyrights for our service, site and name.

Breaching our Terms & Conditions - Any breach of these terms & Condition will result in the your account being deleted without prior notice. You will be banned from any future use of our website and services. The Local Business will not issue a refund for any payment already made.

Members agree that we, The Local Business, will not be held liable for any misuse of information that has been collected from our website by any third party and all damages are be collected from the third party in question.
